How to Set Up and Configure Gemini AI on the Google Pixel 10 Pro
![]()
Gemini AI is Google's powerful new artificial intelligence that replaces the traditional Google Assistant experience, offering more conversational, multimodal, and helpful interactions directly on your phone. Activating Gemini on your Google Pixel 10 Pro unlocks a new level of productivity and convenience. If you haven't set it up yet, there are two primary ways to get started. Below, we'll walk you through both the built-in Settings method and the alternative Google Play Store installation.
Method 1: Setup via Pixel Settings
This method utilizes the deep integration of Gemini within the Pixel operating system's settings.
- Open Settings and Select Your Account
Open the Settings app on your phone. At the top of the menu, tap on your Google Account (usually shows your profile picture and name).
- Go to All Services
In the Google Account settings, tap on All services. - Find Assistant and Voice Settings
Scroll down the list of services to find the section titled Search, Assistant, & Voice. Tap on it.
- Select and Initiate Gemini Setup
Scroll down within the Assistant menu to find Gemini and tap on it to start the setup process. - Activate Gemini
When prompted with the introductory screens explaining Gemini's features, click Use Gemini to confirm the switch from Google Assistant.
- Setup Complete and Customization
The setup is now complete! You can immediately begin customizing settings like Quick Phrases (voice commands to activate Gemini without saying "Hey Google"), or adjust how you access the AI.
Method 2: Installation via Google Play Store
If you prefer a direct approach or can't find the feature in your settings, you can install Gemini directly from the Play Store.
- Open Play Store and Search
Open the Google Play Store app. In the search bar at the top, type Google Gemini.
- Install and Open the App
Ensure you are on the correct app page (Google LLC). If the app isn't installed, tap Install. After the download is complete, press Open. - Activate Gemini
Once the app opens, you will be prompted to activate the feature. Tap Use Gemini again to switch over from your existing Google Assistant.
Quick Access
Once Gemini is activated, you can quickly access it using the following methods (you may need to configure these options during the initial setup):
- Voice Command: Say "Hey Google" to summon Gemini.
- Power Button: Press and hold the power button on the side of your phone.
- Corner Swipes: Swipe diagonally from the bottom-left or bottom-right corner of the screen (default for Assistant/Gemini access).
